1st Cadre Review of Central Government Medical Laboratory Staff was approved vide MOHFW OM 17th July, 2025. This historical development paved the way for setting up of uniformity in pay scales, revision of designations, entry level professional qualification, promotional avenues etc for all Laboratory staff. This has also led to change in the nomenclature from Laboratory Technician to Medical Laboratory Technologist and from Laboratory Assistant to Jr Medical Laboratory Technologist. The cadre review model was also accepted by the 7th CPC and the 7th CPC recommended all Departments/Ministries to implement this model cadre structure.
