About Us

There is a huge workforce of medical lab professionals in India engaged in clinical lab practices, teaching/trainings and research activities in health care system. To unite all MLS associations and professionals under an umbrella organization was a big challenge yet very necessary step for the overall augmentation of medical lab profession; hence the Indian Confederation of medical laboratory Science (ICMLS) has been established as a national registered confederation of MLS associations. Presently it is a unifying voice of more than fifty thousand Indian medical laboratory professionals through 25 MLS Associations under Central Government, State Governments, Autonomous and private health care establishments across the country.

The Mission of ICMLS is to be a pioneer in advancement of the knowledge, study and practices of the Medical Laboratory Science Profession and to make an aware and vibrant medical laboratory technology fraternity. Since its inception, the ICMLS has been striving hard for the standarisation, promotion, overall development and delivery of excellence in medical lab education & services.

ICMLS was established in 2016 and registered as national association under society registration Act-1860.

The ICMLS is affiliated to the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS) Hamilton, Canada. It is also a member of Asia Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (AAMLS). It is also associated with Joint Forum of Medical Technologists of India (JFMTI) which is common voice of Indian allied health professionals (AHPs) established for a coordinated development of AHPs. The Head Office of ICMLS is at New Delhi (India). The dedicated team of ICMLS experts has been instrumental in designing of handbook of core curriculum, career pathway and job roles for medical laboratory science under National Initiative for allied health sciences (NIAHS), Government of India. The Leadership of ICMLS has played a key role in revamping of cadre structure of central government medical laboratory cadre which has paved the way for setting uniformity in designations, qualifications and promotion for medical lab professionals across the country.
